Diamond Harps
Artisan and Harp Builder DANIEL SCHMITT, a seventh generation Canadian, has created the unique DIAMOND HARPS CANADA Workshop. Superbly skilled in design and tool fabrication, sound development, woodworking detail and hand finishes, DANIEL has kept the HARP Community growing and flourishing since he opened the workshop in 2001.
His harps are sought-after by all levels of players, including Professionals who want a dynamic range, a powerful rich bass and a bright warm tone. Students benefit also from the concert spacing, the highly stable tuning and the dynamic character of each Diamond Harp's voice. Extremely responsive to the touch, DIAMOND HARPS are a precocious blend of eloquent sound and stunningly beautiful good looks.
DANIEL'S finest models are created from gorgeous hardwoods, finished with a contrasting inlay, 23.5-carat GOLD LEAF and an authentic CANADIAN DIAMOND set into the delicate carving on the pillar.
He uses Canadian Eastern Cherry, Figured Maples, Walnut, Exotic Bubinga and other tonewoods for construction, with a contrasting wood inlay as a border around the soundboard, pillar and neck. The two larger models also have a trio of diamond-shaped inlay near the top of the pillar on the front, and one diamond inlay at the bottom.
DIAMOND HARPS SOUNDBOARDS are made from wedges of HAND-CUT SPRUCE, Okanagan dried, meticulously tapered and then veneered with cherry or maple. Daniel selects the Spruce logs himself, from the BC Interior forests.
